Have you ever seen this breed? This is not my chicken, but I got the pic off of a website.
Why yes, yes I have.
When they are young'uns, they look like this:
And when they are threatening to poop on you, they look like this:
I WANT ONE!!!!
That's very a beautiful bird.
How do they prevent damage to those amazing tail feathers? Do they use a Roo Do Rag?
wow those feathers are awsome.. is that normal for a that breed to have such long feathers.. or is that just one of the best of the best ...?? And normal people (who dont spend millions on birds) just get a few feet of feathers??
That has to be one of the best of the best.
I believe TommyVT in San Diego, CA raises these. I've asked the same thing... how do they keep their tails so nice? Reminds me of a Dr. Seuss story where they were carrying the feathers for a birds so they wouldn't drag on the ground (or something like that). They'd never survive up here... too much mud in the summer.
Gorgeous birds, though.
People, according to the chicken book that is on my lap, "...that of the Onagadori's record length of forty feet!"
