I've just hatched a chick and when I took it out of the bator noticed that one of its eyes is fused (eyelids) - the other is working fine, and it's really active otherwise. Has anyone had this problem before? At first I thought it just had one eye closed but then noticed that it doesn't ever 'open'. The eye looks like what you see in newborn puppies and other little birds who are born with their eyelids fused.

awww poor baby, Ive never had this problem, but have read about others that have. as long as he/she is active, eating, drinking and pooping he/she should go on to live a normal live (I sure hope so) Just wouldnt use the chick for breeding when it gets older, that could cause issues !!!!!

Do you have any pics of him/her that you could post ??

I'll try to get pics of it tomorrow - it's less than a day old and I don't want to 'stress' it out too much by handling it. Other than that, it's really cute and really feisty (albeit a bit wobbly still) - already worked out how to eat the chick starter and had a drink.

I would guess I would still be wobbly also if I just hatched from an egg and only had one eye
