We have a Buff Orpington that was hatched 4/29/13. She is a 4-H Project and we love her. She has only laid one egg. She gets the best food and lives in the Taj Mahal of all coops. She roams all day long with the two dogs and two tortoises. She is the only chicken we have so far. Is this the problem? Could she be lonely?

Lonely or not, chickens are social animals and they need at least one companion to keep them happy. I wouldn't be surprised if that is at least one of the reasons behind the problem.
