One of my male buttons keeps making a strange call, what does it mean?

I have 3 different Button cages. Pen #1 has the parents, Pen #2 has a younger pair that are bro and sis, Pen #3 has 1 lone male, he was in pen #2 with his bro and sis, but the two males started fighting so I had to separate them.
This morning I was carrying Pen #3 out with my lone male, buddy and he would stand straight up and kind of "Howl" he kept on doing this. Then when I put him beside the pen with his bro and sis in it he would pace back and forth all fluffed up and would kind of Howl at them?

My males do that but think of hundreds making that sound...it sounds like a haunted mansion

Buddy is asking for a mate. He is looking at the others and seeing who will respond to his call. The male will also make the howl when he loses his mate. It's a more sad howl though.
