One of my male buttons keeps making a strange call, what does it mean?

I have 3 different Button cages. Pen #1 has the parents, Pen #2 has a younger pair that are bro and sis, Pen #3 has 1 lone male, he was in pen #2 with his bro and sis, but the two males started fighting so I had to separate them.
This morning I was carrying Pen #3 out with my lone male, buddy and he would stand straight up and kind of "Howl" he kept on doing this. Then when I put him beside the pen with his bro and sis in it he would pace back and forth all fluffed up and would kind of Howl at them? [IMG]
What does this behavior mean? [IMG]
Thanks for the input - [IMG]

My males do that but think of hundreds making that sound...it sounds like a haunted mansion

Buddy is asking for a mate. He is looking at the others and seeing who will respond to his call. The male will also make the howl when he loses his mate. It's a more sad howl though.
