one of the chicks might be choking

    i know my sister already posted a subject but nobody is answering so here is the story
    a chick keeps opening its mouth really wide but not making noise is this choking???????????? [​IMG]

    Just answered another post on this topic. It's probably nothing. If the chick hasn't been outdoors, it's very unlikely that it's gapeworms. You can look in the throat to see if anything is stuck there. Mine have made that gaping gesture since I got them. They still do it now that they're adults. Unless there are other symptoms, I wouldn't worry.

    I have babies that often do that too, and some adults. He is probably fine, is he still eating and drinking?

    Many times they do that when they get a bit of shavings or a larger piece of food that wont go down well. That's probably what's going on.
