... one of these girls doesn't belong
sad.png

In April of this year, we got 6 baby chicks. They have thrived pretty much by the books, except for one that we like to call "Little Red." She stopped growing larger about a month ago, walks differently than the others (head tilted slightly to the left at all times) & does not lay eggs. She also seems to get sleepy during the day & can be found nodding off regularly. We have examined her to the best of our ability and have found nothing physically wrong with her. She's become one of the favorites due to her quirks, but we are constantly curious about how this happened. Does anyone have any suggestions as to what may be wrong with her?

Welcome from an imp in Washington

Sounds like your little red might have a vitamin deficiency. Try vitamin & electrolytes from the feedstore. Inexpensive and can't hurt.

Good luck

Update!!

So, days after the reply to my post, we got vitamins for our girls & continue to give the vitamins. Our Little Red has since started laying eggs! (The first one was on Thanksgiving day!!!) She also grew slightly larger, though not as big as the others. Her eggs are the largest of them all! We still can't believe it. Now we have a new reason to be curious about her: She lays perfectly round eggs. We've never seen anything like it! But they're yummy & we are very happy to be getting eggs from her.
