As you all know, DH and I made the difficult decision to put Daisy down on Saturday. I got the mail today and there was a sympathy card with a note from my vet!! I just thought that was so sweet.
I'm so glad I was able to find a vet in town that really, truely cares for animals. Too bad he doesn't do large animals, too!
Just thought I would share because I was really touched by it!

Carrie my small animal vet does that too!!!! It really meant alot to me when I received them. Of course everytime it has happened I really needed to to taken out of there in a straight jacket but that is beside the point. I know what you mean and I am sorry about Daisy.

When we lost lizette the vet sent a sympothy card as well. I dont cry and that sure put me in a tearful mood. Unfortunatly we dont use that vet no more since some people there are rude and they cost an arm and a leg for a simple task. We go to another guy and he calls us up everyday and ask "so how are your pets? Is everything going well?" He is very nice and a vacc shot is $40.

We had a Vet in Texas that not only sent us a sympathy card, also made a donation to the Humane Society in the name of our dog that we had to put to sleep due to a back problem.

I had a vet where I used to live who would give my chocolate lab free check ups. I happened to tell him that Dakota was a rescue and a hour from death when we recused him. All three of our dogs are rescues, but chocolate labs are his favorite.

I worked for a vet for 3 years and they did the same thing. In certain cases, where the owners were long time clients, they would make a donation in the pet's memory to Cornell University research, which was where they had gone to school. Really shows that they understand how important our pets are to us all.

I take all my birds (plus my three dogs) there and I have a good relationship with the girls there, as well as Dr. Bart. I was crying in the lobby, so they probably would have felt bad if they didn't send a card!! [IMG]

I've seen, in some vets, some things I wish human doctors had.... it seems like they have a total understanding of both the pet and the owner.... they seem more "human" than your regular MD.
(who can't wait to get your antibiotic script written and you out the door)

Now if I could find a vet to see to my children - I'd be all set!

sorry to hear of the loss of your doggy, glad your vet was so sweet to send a card.

back in july one of our alpacas became quite ill, we took her to the emergency clinic at Ohio State University, but she did not make it. (too long a story to get into). but a week and a half later i got a pkg in the mail from OSU. i assumed it was just the halter she'd had on her, but they'd made me one of those plaster of paris plaques of her paw print. i bawled like a baby.

its always nice when you find an animal doctor who loves animals as much as you do.
