Ok - I don't know whether this is going tof work, but I'm trying to post a picture and I'm feeling real OLD. If it goofs up I know you will all be real nice about it.

Some of these chicks are sooo cute (well all of them are but some more so.) They were already pipping when I went to lock them down, humidity was real low and I even turned some of them that morning. I picked them up on a 105 degree day when California was burning down and I think they had a head start developing. BYC people told me what to do and I did it (threw in sponges)!

I'm so happy with this hatch, they all look healthy and they're eating and pooping! The one I'm holding is a mahogany color.

    Thanks to all who helped.

What a pretty little chick! Congrats on the hatch! How many did you start out with?

It was a flat of eggs, I though they only held twenty! I must have stuffed the outer row too and tossed some on top. I was trying to clear the deck. Those were some old eggs that had been sitting around the kitchen, not being turned, in hot weather and I figured they were a long shot. I am SO glad you got a great hatch! You will have to post pics! Any roosters you don't want, I will take them back, any breed. Thanks for posting!

    Patti,

This was the best hatch I've ever had. I know at least four of your project eggs hatched. The way my other hatches have gone I think there will be a few roos in there. I tried to post a pic of the eggs but it was way too big. It took me all day to figure this one out and then I posted in the learning center and they had to move it!

Thanks Olive Hill - you should see it in person. I'll try to post something between tiny and huge.

Would you mind telling us what you kept your humidity at during the hatch? I have had my best hatches at 45% for the first 18 days, 65% for the last three. Were you able to do those parameters (except for early hatching)?

It's really hard for me to keep the humidity up. With that many eggs I wanted to have plenty of ventilation so it was a little lower than 45. It was real hot and dry early - I called and talked to the Genesis company and he was surprised it was so low with the middle well filled. I called because there is an annoying high pitched hum in the fan. He said it is normal but it's much louder than the LG or Brinsea. I tried to keep all of them above 40% but I'm sure they dipped a lot.
They like to sit in their food dish.
The bright yellow is marking for a project chick.

hey, just a heads up! You may want to put that baby food in a processor and grind it up a lot finer for the first two weeks or so. They will eat it much better and grow really well and get a good head start booster jump on life. Good luck with those biddies! Keep the pics coming!

I used to grind it - can't remember why I stopped, maybe just forgot. I'll go back to it.

The one in the top middle yellow and grey was the first to hatch, it's an EE. I think there are three EE's
