I can't take it any more. [IMG] The babies are almost 6 weeks and they are moving out. We set them up an area within the coop for nighttime. Does this look ok? Foresee any problems with the adults? Should I keep the drakes outside in their pen at night? I tend to overthink and worry...

I have one small concern with the area for the ducklings. They tend to find trouble so I'm wondering if they could possibly get their neck or feet stuck in one of those openings. Maybe you can put some hardware cloth on the bottom foot or two?

Is there some reason that you think you should keep drakes in the outdoor pen?

If you have something with smaller diameter - I have some one inch stiff plastic mesh, you can also get one inch plastic poultry fence - I have seen drakes jab through fence at other ducks - grabbing at their faces.

I might be able to do the hw cloth tomorrow. We also have a baby monitor out there, so if anything crazy happens, we should hear it. I just worry about drakes jerky behavior [IMG].

I have poultry fence, maybe I can zip tie it on tonight. Then I can worry about entanglement. Golly, worries!

Kangasox is wise....if a duck can get into trouble, most of the time, he or she will.

Lots and lots of zip ties! Yup.

Everyone fared well last night. I highly recommend everyone put a monitor in their duck coop and keep it on all night [IMG]. Protip: drakes never shut up. Or is it just mine?? I might get hardware cloth today. Just going day by day until they're big enough. Ducks!

I am seriously considering a nursery monitor.

Check Craigslist @Amiga. I was thinking of a video monitor. Because I'm a duck stalker.
