Tried twice on eggs first batch of 9 - 7 went to lock down only to die immediately before/during/after LD. Second attempt was a dozen from a different breeder and post office completely scrambled them. Decided to leave the stress of egg hatching to the hatcheries. Ideal should be shipping my 7 Millie D'uccle chicks on the 3rd of next month. Have you ordered from them before? What should I expect? Was your experience good/bad went awry but quickly resolved? I don't expect show quality, not by a mile. I just want a calm bird that'll tolerate me even after they grow older. Currently, my setup is a 10 gallon fish tank with a water bottle, a folded up towel in the bottom covered with a dog wee pad, it has a screen-cover lid with a clamp lamp and various wattage bulbs - the infrared bulb I got was way too hot for this though so I just got red party bulbs and regular bulbs. I have chick feed and a small dish for them to eat out of (one generally about the size you'd use for a gecko's calcium/food) and finally I put in a few small plushies for them to cuddle with. Is this appropriate? At least, until they get big enough for my bath-tub brooder? Any who, wish me luck. This is my third try at chickens now. Technically fourth as I ordered a dozen eggs off MyPetChicken and they still keep sending me notices that it'll be longer than they thought. Their order page says 12 days but after waiting that they email you saying it'll be another two weeks. Yea. They did this to me before(with which I got a full refund) but I thought I'd give them a second chance. So much for that idea. I'm just waiting to see if it takes long enough it'll go into when they start having chicks and I can request to buy day olds with the money instead.
