    Does anyone know what the law is for raising chickens in Tampa, Fl?
    The forum that has ordinances and local law is overwhelming, to say the lease.
    Thanks for any help you can give. I've google till my fingers cramped and got nothing for Tampa.

    From the Municipal Code website for Tampa, Florida

    Sec. 19-76. Farm animals.
    (a) It is unlawful for any person to keep, harbor or maintain any farm animal, except under the following conditions:
    (1) Animals must be kept within an enclosed area which is a minimum of two hundred (200) feet from any dwelling on an adjoining parcel of land in separate ownership.
    (2) Land requirements per animal shall be as follows:
    a. Horses, cattle or swine: One (1) acre for each animal;
    b. Sheep or goats: One-half ( 1/2) acre for each animal;
    c. Fowl: Five thousand (5,000) square feet of land for each five (5) fowl or fraction thereof;
    d. Bees: Ten thousand (10,000) square feet per hive.
    Above land requirements are the gross area of premises harboring such animals and include areas used by the resident for residential or other purposes, in addition to the keeping of animals.
    (b) The police department is exempted from the provisions of this section and is specifically authorized and empowered to keep, harbor and maintain horses within the corporate limits of the city.
    (Ord. No. 89-269, § 2(48-48), 10-12-89; Ord. No. 90-93, § 6, 4-5-90; Ord. No. 90-124, § 2(48-49), 5-17-90)

    It looks to me like you need to have a nice big backyard, basically.

    Hello! Just a quick question from someone down in Sarasota County, FL ... where did you find the ordinance for Tampa? I have been looking thru my County ordinance and zoning code and now I've been clued in (by my mom of all people) that the restrictions for zoning are actually listed in the deed of my house and that it falls not under a code or ordinance but a deed restriction on my property itself.

    If you could direct people to where you found your info on Tampa, it would be greatly appreciated! Thank you! [IMG]

    Edit by me: Duh ... now I see that you were so kind as to make that a link, which takes me to the site I perused yesterday but couldn't find the info. Thank you anyway, I'm sure that will help a lot of people. Take care!

    Here is a more direct link, so you can just click on the state in question, and it will give a list of counties and towns whose municipal codes are online:

    Mashpee doesn't seem to have its entire municipal code listed anywhere, although the city's website has a portion of the code up. You may have to call the city courthouse and ask where you can look at the full municipal code. They'll have a hard copy somewhere.
