I understand we are without health insurance due to DH losing job last Oct I have to see a pain specialist every other money and have to pay for it out of pocket also have to pay for all my meds Luckily doctor changed me to some inexpensive meds. I know here we have a doctor's office which is where doctors go to get their 3 years of residency done they have a sliding scale. you might check into that and see if you can get help that way good luck and hope you get better.

Have you tried for the medical card through the state, they go off income it is a way to get health insurance while you try and find your own. or call a learning doctors office and see if they could help. they go off your income so you only have pay a small part and then you can get the medical treatment for a reduce price. sometimes the county will have free health clinic once a month call around and see what you can find call you local social service office they might be able to help temporarily. hopefully you get it taken care of before it gets bad and needs a hospital stay keep looking there is an answer hopefully you will get well soon, maybe check into some natural remedies hot tea with honey will help with the sore throat using a vapor run on chest and put some in steaming water and breathing it can also help.

Also call around for a low cost clinic.. We have a volunteers in medicine and many nurse practitioners that specifically do folks without insurance... Its like 25.00 for the visit and they will give you the 5.00 meds or a combintion of meds...

I have health insurance and I can't afford to go to the doctor.Dh needs to go more than me.

    Insurance isn't all that great.

You can try a free clinic.I got better care there once than from a private doctor(when I was pregnant) who was more interested in getting money than dxing me.

Also,a sliding scale is an option for payment.Used to be programs too that covered some costs like Hill burton. My mom is on stuff like that.

Could you pay $5 to $25 a month? I pay that on many medical bills because we just can't afford to pay them in full anymore. Personally I hate health insurance and would rather pocket the money we pay each month to cover the *what ifs* they will probably never pay anyway. They ignore my letters and play dumb when I call.Very annoying.

Dose up on vit C and garlic.Helps me when my throat hurts.See if there is any way you can treat yourself with alternative health methods...especially foods and lifestyle.I have to do this for myself since dh needs more doctor care than me.Thankfully our kids have been healthy.

Hope you find something that helps and/or doctors who will see you.

Urgicare was the worst option since they want money upfront.Find a place to bill you AFTER the visit. If we had a lower income I would go for state insurance, but at 35k for 4 people we are rich lol.

thanks all!! i appriciate it. sore throat is gone for now.. i won't worry about it too much untill it comes and doesn't go. when it won't go away, i will go to the ER my mom says you can get emergency medi-cal. i just hope it's not strepp throat. my mom keeps saying it's not. usually when i get a sore throat i have it for a day and then i get a cold. but no cold symptoms at no. no runny nose, no itchy eyes. i did feel like i had a fever yesterday but my mom said i didn't but i had that woozie feeling you get when you have a fever and the night before i felt like utter poop. we will see how i feel tonight. right now i feel good.

i have been loading up on vitmain c. when i am getting sick or when i am sick, i crave it. all i want are oranges and halls vitamin c cough drops. we aldo have those minute maid frozen juice pop things. i've been eating those like crazy too. i have been craving those a lot.

    thanks again everyone!

I do hope it's not strep. DH and I are both suffering with upper respiratory crud right now, but I'm positive it's allergy related. The pollen is unbelievable this time of year.
I have the sore throat too. It's from the increased nasal secretions running down the back of my throat.

The one thing you didn't mention that often helps is gargling with warm salt water. If the sore throat comes back, you might want to give that a try.

    Feel better soon [IMG]

Get Airborne and drink it in some sort of juice. Yummy, fizzy, and helps you fight off a cold. Make lemon tea and smash garlic into it. Drink hot with honey (makes your breath not smell so hot but it works) i'm sorry you're sick!
