My DH and I took off three days of work and just finished up the coops and run for our 4 chickens and 4 ducks. Thought everyone might like to see for ideas: This is the coop built out of two rabbit hutches - modified of course. The end has another ramp, but we've made that into the nesting box and I will use the door as my egg access. Next we built a kennel "inner run". The dog house is the duck house. The kennel will be used during the day when we are at work as well as overnight for the ducks. We'll open it up to the "outer run" after work and on weekends. Using a rain barrel for easy access to water near the coop. We added cattle panel with hardware cloth for the "outer run" We also topped the whole outer run with deer cloth to protect us from the worst predator in our area - Hawks & Eagles. We used a piece of cattle panel (cut using bolt cutters) for the outer gate and I came up with an ingenious way to attach it (with a spring!): Dug and created a pond for the ducks - Here is the finished product! I'm very proud of our accomplishments.
