I dont know who is more excited , Penelope or Me & Hubby!!
about 2 weeks ago we seperated Penelope from her Hatch buddies , a crevecouer & Sultan Chicken , Due to the huge size difference and the bizzare obsession Penelope has with pulling out the Sultans Poof.
Both Parties are doing great and it is now time , at 4 months old , for Penelope to finally be on the ground in her new run.
We are searching for a house to buy so we didnt want to do anything permanent ( hard to move )
we constructed a 4 ft wide , 5ft long , 4 ft high -open bottom chicken wire /Wood frame temporary enclosed pen.... She also will spend her first night in the chicken barn , in her own cage.
Coincidentally , This morning (before moving her in to her new run) we watched her for the first time try to roll around in her wire bottom pen , trying to dust bathe in what little wood chips she has in there. I would say shes excited to hit the ground!
I will Update later with pics of her in her new pen later!

Once We are in the new house We will have a lot to do - Construct Percy's Pen( Pot Belly Pig) , The chickens Yard & Mini Barn , and a nice large pen to accommodate 2 more peafowl.
We will be able to bring this temporary pen with us for a quick setup at the new house.

We need to make a ground pen for some peachicks. They are getting pretty big for their pen right now and they need more room to run around. It will be hard not having them close to the house though since my big peafowl are all at my grandma's and the peachicks are here at our house. I hope they get used to the adult peafowl. We are going to make a pen right next to the adult pen in hopes that they can safely meet each other. Putting my peachick Peep in the pen with the adults just for a little bit was horrible. The adults jumped on him and he ran to me for protection. I picked him up and he was shaking. Poor thing.

Great treat! My peas love watermelon, that should help her feel more comfortable. In fact, when we finally move ours to a new pen I should get them some lettuce or something for a treat to help calm them. I am not worried about the tame one I hand raised but the other three that are really wild. Those won't be so fun to catch and move.[IMG]
