We are so happy, all of our chicks are 9 weeks old, and none of the 12 roosters have made much attempt at crowing, but this morning we heard a faint errrr errr errrrrr DH waited and watched to see who had begun to crow and it was our little Buttercup Roo......... he is the smallest chicken we have (even smaller than the hens) so the other much bigger roosters will now be able to follow little Butter's lead!!!!
I love that sound. I had a nursery coop full of little cockerels and two or three began crowing at 4-5 weeks old. Now, that is a cute sound! My black Ameraucana cockerel, Scout, so far hasnt crowed once and I am getting anxious to hear him.
