awww congrats! i have some duck eggs in the bator due march 8th!!!
Hurray. What kind are they?
Magpie Ducks, they are rare.
ALBC's 2000 census of domestic waterfowl in North America found only 126 breeding Magpie. While seven people reported breeding Magpie, only one primary breeding flock with 50 or more breeding birds existed. There is a critical need for more conservation breeders of Magpie ducks. Their excellent laying ability, gourmet quality meat, and excellent foraging abilities make them a great addition to any small farmstead or backyard producer's flock. - From Wikipedia, Magpie Duck: Breeding

I Have Magpie ducks as well. Right now mama duck is sitting on 13 eggs. I'm waiting for them to start hatching any day now. The last bunch she hatched all died, I think this was partially due to my inexperience. I've done some research and hoping this round turns out better! Any tips for me? I'd like to have a few survive this time around. My flock was attacked by coyotes over the winter and I lost 2 drakes. thanks!!
