Why do the corners need to be rounded?

So the chicks, when frightened or startled, don't all pile themselves into a corner of the brooder - escaping the Giant Hand, for example. No corners to crush anybody. If you have LOTS of chicks, the piling on top of each other can suffocate or injure a chick. Or some chicks.

Our local feed store said to round corners also so chicks wouldnt get trapped and overheat too!

Mrs. Fluffy Puffy :

Um, what are: GC? Giant Cochins????
Adorable chicks! Where'd you get them from?

GC I abbrv for Golden Comets I think they are also called red stars and or red sexlinks??? Dont quote me but I think they are all one in the same??? We got them from our local feed store West Lebanon Feed and Supply located in West Lebanon, NH. great supply place that even offers free seminars on raising and caring for poultry:love
