After reading so many posts and gleaming from the expert experiences here in BackyardChickens, my partner Rob and I decided to build our own coop instead of paying $1500-1800 for a simpler version. We realized we could totally customize our coop if we built it ourselves, save money and also recycle old windows and scraps of lumber. The initial investment is pretty high, but I think it'll be more worth it as long as our chicken pets are all happy. We don't think the number of eggs could ever make up for the cost of the coop though, but who's counting?

It measures 8 x 8 x 8 and is totally blue, with white trimming. The run is 16 x 8 and has a corrugated roof. We live in WA state and therefore need a sheltered run and a nice warm house for our chickies.
