    Merry Christmas to us!!
We got our first egg after many chickens that were roosters and more that did not hatch and even more that got eaten by predators. Finally. Very exciting... The question is? Who did it?

[IMG] May this be the first of dozens & dozens more! [IMG]

By the way, that's a nifty wire egg basket on the right side of your photo. Is that a real brown speckled egg in it? I'm assuming your First Egg is the nice big white one in the egg cup. How many hens do you have now and what breeds are they?

Enjoy eating your first dividend from your hens!

That is a wooden egg in the basket. Thank you for noticing. I love my chickens and farmhouse antiques as well. We have five misfits. I believe the egg layer is a black Austrolop born Memorial Day.
Then I have a mixed everything pullet na dthree silkies all born in August. I believe however two silkies to be roos. We will see how that goes.
    Thanks for the cheers.

Well, your black 'Australorp" didn't lay it. They lay brown eggs.

That, or someone is tricking you and put a store bought egg in the coop.
