We had a broody hen, so put 10 eggs under her, moved her into our small coop and checked on her now and again. Never candled the eggs or anything. Today was the day, so we checked on her and found these 3 little gems. There were a couple of "duds" and still 2 eggs to see. But here they are!

Well NYRIR, That's a good question. I think it is a RIR/Blk Cochin cross, only because the head is RIR color and the body is black. She (and I am hoping) is pretty cute. The yellow with brown stripped wings we think is Buff Cochin/Americauna or Buff Orpington/Americauna, so basically easter egger. The other looks like Cuckoo Maran/Blk Cochin or Cuckoo Maran/Americauna. I'll be able to narrow it down as hey get a little bigger. Basically I took a bunch of eggs that layed that day and let her sit them.

I have to say though, that's one of the cutest chicks I've seen yet! Maybe there is something to this "barnyard mix" thing.... I hope mine are as cute!
