I am to excited at the thought of hatching 2 silkie eggs "naturally" and im over thinking the process i guess so i hope yall have the answers.....

When the chicks hatch do you need the hen AND a heat lamp at the same time or should i just separate her from her chicks all together?

P.S. sorry if this is a dumb question but these will be my first (if you cant tell) [IMG]

    THANKS!!!!

Why would you separate the chicks from their mom? Mom will keep them warm, show them how to eat, drink, and eventually scavage around for bugs, etc. I would leave them with their mom.

If you're letting your hen hatch them, you should definitely leave them with her.

I don't think they would unless the temperature got very cold or changed rapidly.
