Hello I raise buff brahma and my 2 rooster i have with the flock keep over mating on two certain hens. I tried separating the hen from the rooster, but they look miserable so we put them back with the roosters. I have ordered some more pullets from a hatchery. Will that help or do I need to do something different.

Okay, thank-you 😊.

I had the same situation with two roosters recently. But they would grab the back of her head so she’s bald. It’s been a few weeks since I made one rooster a loner and the hen is barely getting her head feathers back but still looks pretty bald.

To give the hens a much needed rest I would separate both roosters for as long as it takes the ladies to cover their bare backs.

In case you need fertile eggs: Even after separating the roosters the eggs of your hens will still be fertile for about 3-4 weeks.

:goodpost:
This would definitely be the best thing to do.
I kept one with them because I wanted fertile eggs from that specific rooster, but if fertile eggs are not needed right now, definitely separate them both from the hens.

I have separated one of rooster away from the flock. Hopefully now their feathers will grow and they will start laying again. Thank you everyone :thumbsup.

They’ll most likely heal faster if you remove both. Then later reintroduce one. But for sure at least removing one will help them start laying in a month or two depending on how fast she heals.
