I rescued a cross beak chick from TSC at the beginning of the season. Her beak was crooked from day one and they were going to "dispose" of her.
I took her home and she lived 8 happy weeks. I made the decision to have her put down when she started spending her entire day eating and she started falling behind the others.
    She was adorable.
This chick hatched from my Silkie and Ameracauna and had the same coloring...so I named her after my first Penelope...a week or so later, her beak started crossing.
She's just as big, if not bigger than her siblings. I have to trim the top beak with the pedi paws now and then.
    She's energetic and lively.
I'm really hoping she makes it!

Dusty could work as a name for the other one....it would work for a cockerel or pullet. :hmm

And I figured the brown on top of the grey kind of made it look like she had just got a dust bath xD

    I will keep you updated!
I would be very happy if she survives...just because if she doesn't, this will be the fourth chick I've tried to help that didn't make it.
It's gotta work out at least once...though I will admit it's been worth it every time.

And yes, she is a bit dingy.
    I think nameless is Einstein/Gamma
and Penelope is Cheeky/Gamma but who knows.

Can't believe no one else has gone hog wild on this thread!
