I recently had a hen die of Mareks. I have been trying to learn as much as I can and I have come across the product called Oxine and also Virkon S and I was wondering if one is better than the other for Mareks or should I and can I use both without any reactions. Anyone with any experience using this products can hopefully give me some insight. Did it help with the Mareks? Do I need to use a fogger? I want to try and do what I can to hopefully keep the rest of my flock.
Thanks

I really don't think that disinfection or fogging will help to get rid of Mareks in your environment. I have read that it can exist in the soil from dust and dander for up to 7 years. Just to clarify, I'm not an expert on Mareks, though.

Here is some info for you on oxine. I have heard mixed reviews about activated (adding citric acid) versus unactivated (just using plain old oxine without citric acid). This website he says don’t do activated because it is too harsh HOWEVER I’ve read where some do and it’s fine. They simply air out coop if making activated.
To note: if you DONT do activated you can do it around chickens no issue.
I’m doing activated because we have mareks and coryza. I already lost 10 chickens so I’m throwing caution to the wind.
Good luck.
Here’s the link talking about using plain oxine
