My hens need some oyster shell, but they are in a pen with their roos. Is it ok for the roos to eat the shell as well? Kind of a dumb question, but I wanted to make sure.

I just throw a hand full of oyster shells in my pen about once a week and my roos are also in there. It doesn't seem to bother mine.[IMG]

If it is separate from the food the roos should ignore it.

I've got shell in a brick outside and the hens gobble some down, but never seen the roo's actually eat any... just do the pick and drop, "hey hens, goodies" sounds with them.
