I want to paint it, and make it look nice. I have a very large house and I want it to look like one of those cliche red barns .. you know the ones :) my question is what kind of paint should I use??

What's on there now? If the wood is bare, I would use a solid stain, which doesn't require any primer, and will peel less in the future. For the white trim, I would use a latex primer, then latex paint in satin or semi gloss finish for longevity. If there is already paint on the coop, I would scrape, spot prime the bare wood parts, and refinish with latex paint in the proper color. Again I would choose the satin finish, as it will clean much easier than a flat paint would. (Hose every few months when the girls cover the lower portions with filth) [IMG]

Red Barn and fence paint is very thin.... You'll need at least two coats - just an FYI

A couple of coats of red barn paint should set the coop up nicely. Welcome to BYC.
