Just wondering as this is my first summer with chickens if it is normal as the temp rises over 90+ for the combs and or wattles to become pale. Is this just due to the temp/heat? Otherwise they are perfectly normal, laying same and acting same.

Have you wormed them? Checked for lice/mites? Parasites could be the cause.

Could also be diet related. I change my birds' feed and their combs' color changed back to red/much healthier looking again. I added game bird feed. Interesting how the comb is an indicator of so many things.

I noticed that after my mamma hens got off the nest, their combs were pale. I guess their hormone levels went down when they stopped laying.

I had one BA hen whose wattles went almost white. After awhile, I noticed it was gone so I assumed it must have had something to do wi/diet. just guessing though
