I'm pretty darned sure that 15 of my 17 chicks are pullets. But my 2 partridge rocks confuse me. They were purchased as pullets. If just one had these thin saddle area features it wouldn't be so confusing, but the fact that both do, make me wonder if it's the breed, or just odd luck.

Combs / waddles are same size as other chicks and not red. Legs are not thick. But the back feathers ... ?

But the back feathers

Hi there, I'm in N. Ca as well! :frow

I have raised hundreds of chicks and sent a lot of boys to freezer camp... but NOT once have I had one that showed gender SHAPED saddle fathers by that young of age. Color, yes... shape no. Crowing, yes!! :)

Barring late bloomers, ALL signs currently point to pullet! :love:celebrate

Cockerels/roosters will start to look immensely different...

In my wheaten... the boys black wing and body feathers are coming in heavy by about 6 weeks old... while the hens stay nice and buff. In your case, keep their regular designer look. :pop
