Pasty Butt Chick

Hi guys,

i have a two day old chick who has pasty butt issues. I’ve cleaned the area well, applied Vaseline so that poop won’t stick to the feathers but when i look at her vent it looks slightly swollen (not a prolapse) and pointed down. So no matter what i do to her feathers she’ll keep getting pasty butt. Is there anything i can do?

I know when one of my hens had a prolapse i used Prep H to kind of suck everything back in. Is prep h okay to dab on the chicks vent?

How is your chick?

How warm is the brooder? I would watch to see that she's staying hydrated and is not having a hard time pooping.
You could use a dab of Prep H if you wish.
