Hello, can anyone tell me the breed of the peacock? Thank you!
Pretty juvenile black shouldered.
That's what I thought, thank you! Are there any easy ways to identify the females? They are both very blah looking, one has a more greenish sheen on the neck and the other one more blue other than that, nothing really significant...
There are several member here that have them and can show you a comparison i only rise the India blue type with barred wings.
It is kinda quite on the forum today so check back later on someone will be able to help you .
The India Blue Black Shoulder cock is a two year old and the other bird in your picture is an India Blue hen. The cock will have a mature tail next year and look much different than he does now. More like this;
Awesome, thank you! One of the hens has at least two solid white feathers in her wing. Does that mean any of their offspring could be pied?
No. The white flight feathers mean that she carries one gene or either White or Pied, it would have to be bred to either White or Pied cock to have chicks that were either White or Pied. Seeing that you have a BS cock, there is not much chance of having anything other than IB or IBBS chicks unless he is hiding a split to either White or Pied.
That makes sense, thank you again!
