peacock is sick

We have a peachick that is about two weeks old. His eye is glued shut by pus, and he can't open it. He was fine until yesterday and nothing has changed, he still keeps closing it and it pusses until he can't open it. The other chick is fine, nothing abnormal. I was told to go get medicine from the vet, however due to a tight budget I can't right now. Is there anything I can give him that will help this cold he has. We have him under the heat lamp and everything like normal. I have been getting a warm rag and gently rubbing his eye to clean it out. Please help!

See if you can get a hold of Terramycin.
Or go through your medicine cabinet and try to find any kind of opthalmic ointment.

Is there any discharge from the nostril?

no his eye is the only thing that has a discharge other than that he looks like a perfectly healthy peachick
