I have all my smaller bantams separated from my large fowl that are the same age, until the bantams reach about full size, but in the same run as the others. Anyways, my silver duckwing pullet, honey is at the bottom of the pecking order. She is extremely quiet and sweet, hence the name honey.
Two days ago however, I noticed her peeping has become squaking, and I think she's getting her adult voice. The other 6 bantams are all still peeping and I think her new adult voice has given her a new attitude. She is chasing around all the other bantams in the pen, and pecking at them when they try to eat food sometimes. The top of the pecking order used to be my silver Sebright cockerel, and she even chases him around now. Instead of the lower roost, she sleeps on the highest one too now. Did she just jump to the top of the pecking order? Does this happen normally? I didn't see any change in the pecking order when my large fowl got their adult voices.
