I think my Pekin duck has bumblefoot. I have been soaking it in epsom salt every night, disinfecting it, putting ointment on it and wrapping it. The other night I peeled off the scab and never seen a “kernel” I squeezed it and nothing came out either. Any advice??

Hi there, this Thread says there isn’t always a kernel...https://www.backyardchickens.com/threads/bumble-foot-and-cant-find-the-kernel.1439563/post-23860053

Thank you!! Do you think it looks like it’s on the right track to healing? This is my first time dealing with bumblefoot.

It’s been a couple of weeks since we’ve started soaking and bandaging his foot. I’ve started leaving it unwrapped because his foot is turning kind of white. He still has a bad limp and his ankle seems a little swollen but he’s waddling all around the yard again with his friends. Could the swelling be from not walking on it for a couple of weeks and needs to exercise it or could it be the infection spreading??

Hi! I just wanted to know how you got on with your duck. The severity of yours was similar to mine. He’s got a huge swollen lump on his outside right toe and I’ve removed some of the dead tissue myself but the swelling has remained at the moment. Did you ever fully heal yours? I’m wondering wether my duck will have a permanent limp due to the deformity of his toe or wether it will disappear when the bumblefoot is fully cured. I hope you got it all fixed up :)
