This is Tweeny....she came as a Pekin so I read all I could about them....first of all they can't fly.....oh really.....don't tell her that !! She should have feathered legs - nope nice and clean. What is she as she is the bestest we have had for being friendly although a sandwich is best not eaten in the garden........

She looks like a mixed breed Old English game bantam to me. Very cute though! All the ones that I have ever had have been very personable birds. Definitely no cochin (what you call pekin) in that bird LOL!

possibly a game cross then if she lays cream eggs. Pekins/cochins lay brown.

Trying to think of what lays a cream/white egg and has a poof....... polish, houdan, silkie,......

Thank you ever so much for your input....looks like she is a one-off ! She did run with a family with a silkie cockerel but they got a poodle - need I say more ? That is why we brought her to live with us. I have bought a dozen Nankin eggs which have 10 days to go so keep your fingers crossed. Thanks again

Though Tweeny is not a Pekin she is very pretty. Good luck with your Nankin eggs [IMG]

Oh and just for the record, here are some pics one of my Pekin hens Silvia. She is what some call Silver laced others Silver partridge in colour.
She is a little different to my others as she lays a very special coloured egg, which I was suprised to see, since I seem to remember hearing that coloured earlobes means coloured eggs, and white earlobes means white eggs. This has held true to all my other birds...except this little hen.

She lays a lovely pure white egg, so err, Pekins can lay white eggs after all [IMG]

Silvia is gorgeous! I love her colouring!
I was also confused when someone mentioned that pekins lay white eggs because my pekin pullet lays a white egg.

Quote:OMG she looks just like my Sylvia. Guess its common to name silver penciled or laced birds Sylvia. And Hunkie dont know what your little one is except very cute. By the way she really wants to share your sandwich [IMG]
