anyone else here have problems with their ducks attacking their chickens? I have two Pekin Ducks and one has been attacking my chickens. It chases them and try's to get them even when I run after the duck. I think the chickens will be fine but I'm considering making another area where the ducks can't get out but they wouldn't get to be free range anymore. Also they are attacking the chickens they grew up with

I had one male duck that did the same thing. He was in a brooder with the chicks and he tried to mate with the hens when he grew up. I had to put him in a pen with another female duck to keep him away from the hens. He can harm the hens if he tries to mate with them.Good luck with him.

thank you. He does run after my boy chickens too.... Do you think that the ducks can harm the chickens by biting at them?

Male ducks can very well injure a chicken. If a male duck mates with a chicken you are asking for big trouble. Ducks have a penis while chickens do not and can cause serious injury. I would assume it would apply to roosters as well. They need separate areas if you are having problems. Do your male duck have several female ducks?

Just only one female duck and then the one male

I think your best bet is going to be to get more females. 1:1 is not a good ratio and it should be more like 3:1. That may solve your males problems with trying to mate the chickens. If not then you will either have to keep the ducks away from the chickens or rehome your male and keep just females.
