Ok so let me just say that this incubation of my Pekin eggs has been smooth sailing until
1. my dog stole and egg and dropped it cracking it
2. I now have an early pip on the wrong end with blood under the shell.

I was getting them ready for lockdown which is supposed to be tomorrow but not anymore! I had to dewax my broken egg which I cannot believe is still kicking and is soon to hatch. But while I had that egg out I decided to check the air cells and place them accordingly and was planning on hand turning tonight one last time and locking them down before bed. I have to go to work for 2 days starting tomorrow so I wanted to get everything done.

But putting the last egg down I noticed the discoloration on the egg and then I noticed that it was cracked. A pip? I am totally stressing right now over that poor duckling and I really do hope it gets out.

Is there anything I can do, obviously I cannot help it seeing there is still veins in there and it caught one. But position or anything that you might think would help?

Thanks for looking.

I also posted this in the duck section and I am hoping between the two I would get some really great help.

I am not going to be any help bc I am a newbie but i am wondering, was it position large end up throughout incubation? Is it possible to not be from a pip? Can a claw do that? Can you candle to dermine where the bill is?

I hope it works out!

Thanks and

They were placed in a turner until today and that pip was right where it meet the turner. She is doing good and has a full pip now and you can watch her lifting it up every once and awhile.

They were placed small end down but sometimes these things happen.

I have my first Duck eggs in now, but I think at this point, all you can do is leave it in , keep an eye on it and hope the veins recede quickly. There is a possibility that you may have to assist since it is wrong end pipped. But for now, I think letting it do what it is supposed to do is best. Can you place it somewhere that it would be supported to keep the pip up but not be restricted enough to interfere with zipping?
