    Hi
I have a pekin hen 5 months n a moscovy drake 4 months old. They have always gotten along but the last week he has been chasing her around the yard and hissing at her then they will be fine and next he is being mean to her.
Is this normal? Or does this mean they won't get along anymore?

    Hi [IMG]

If you are positive they are male and female it is hormones that are rearing their ugly heads. In my experience muscovy drakes are much more inept at learning how to procreate. They do a lot of stompring and flirting and it may or may not be in the appropriate direction.

It sounds like he is just starting to figure out he's a boy and she's a girl. It usually looks way worse than it is. Mating is not something you can prevent. Keep an eye on then and as long as he isn't being too rough, its fine. Too rough will result in feather loss on the back of the neck or blood being drawn in the same area. If that happens, post a new thread. It should work out okay.
