Pellets v.s Crumbles

I was wondering, Do you all prefer crumbles or pellets? My chickens prefer the crumbles.. But I prefer the pellets because the crumbles spill out of the feeder and make a mess which attracts flies in the summer.. The pellets also don't get wasted when they spill out like the crumbles do because the crumbles tend to stick to the ground. So I just want to know what you all prefer and why.

My chickens like crumbles, dislike pellets. I feed Purina flock raiser, they love it and don't waste it. Any that gets spilled, they clean up.

I buy what ever is cheapest. It matters not to me what it is if I'm fermenting it. BUT if it's being fed dry, I buy pellets.

I prefer crumbles but have had to use pellet form too. Either way there's "waste" but now that I ferment feed, there's no waste whatever. Either will "melt down" and any dust is used. Love the benefits; no feed waste, nutritional, less feed used, poo = less, no stink (except the cecal) & firmer, no flies, healthier feathering & shiny ... The older birds get pellets. Chicks and bantams get crumbles. Sometimes I throw a handful of pellets in with the bantams.

We used to buy crumbles and we noticed that so much of it is dust and it gets wasted alot more then the pellets. The pellets last alot longer and are cleaner.
We give the youngsters crumble but switch them when they get big enough. ​

I prefer pellets... the chickens prefer mash. So they get both.

I'd like to use pellets but my chickens hate them. The only bag I tried I ended up having to grind them up into crumbles in the blender. So now I stick with crumbles. If I dump the remnants onto the ground they go through it and don't actually end up wasting too much, so that's okay I guess.

Yeah, I've noticed the pellets are harder for the chickens to eat.. But mine still like them.

My chickens don't have a choice.
