Be sure to mark your calendar for January 13, 2018 – you’ll be glad you did.

James Pfarr, author of True Pheasants, A Noble Quarry, will be our Saturday January 13, 2018 speaker at the Hoss’s Steak & Seahouse in Mechanicsburg, PA*. The meeting will start at 11:30 with dinner (everyone one can order separately off the menu) followed by James’s talk, titled “Pheasants - Breeding, Raising and Maintenance”. His presentation will show over 90 slides of pheasants and aviaries, including many museum skins from James’s travels around the world studying pheasants. James’s talk will excite anyone interested in raising pheasants and provide sound advice on the differences and similarity of each genus and conditions they need to breed.

James is a structural engineer by trade but has family roots in aviculture, having been taught taxonomy and genetics by his grandfather Richard Pfarr and devotion to birds by his godmother Joanne Watson, who had a wonderful collection of birds and was a taxidermist at the San Bernardino County Museum. He has raised birds over 30 years and was Director of AP & WS and is currently Director of WPA. He has an eye for detail and a great understanding of how forces of nature have influenced species creating subspecies, superspecies and genetic differences. James is dedicated to preservation of pheasants both in the field and in captivity and loves sharing his knowledge and experiences. You will relish his down-home manors and razor-sharp descriptions explaining why it’s important to know phenotypic differences of closely related species with breeding programs to keep them separate and pure.

Be sure to mark your calendar for January 13, 2018 – you’ll be glad you did.
