Light brown? It's green! I thought I got 6 Legbars, the splash Ameracauna (now named Cookie) and the unidentified brown one (now named Coco Chanel) that you said looked like a brown Leghorn? And the roo, who might be named Wally.
Congratulations! I haven't gotten an egg in at least a week and before that, it was one egg a day for at least two weeks! Everyone is now molting, too.

Easiest way to be sure if an egg came from a hen with the blue egg gene (green eggs are a combo of blue and brown) is to look on the inside of the shell after you crack it to eat. The inside never has any hint of brown (that is applied like paint to the outside of the shell), so will either be blue or white.

I have an orpington hen that's nothing but pin feathers right now and a turkey hen that molts hard every year showing her pins. These girls should've done this a few weeks ago, it's too cold now! I'm not getting many eggs right now either and of course, I need to make cookies and cupcakes tomorrow lol

The very pale green darkened in the refrigerator. Got another pale pinkish one. Haven't eaten any of them yet - gotta get rid of the storebought ones first.
Haven't heard Wally crow yet. How old is he? Also, unless Boo is running around the run, the girls are quite quiet.

Only two of my adult chickens are molting now. Sunny just came out of broody cage yesterday, and blue bear the Welbar is still laying every other day. I’m worried about they will molt in middle of the winter. Don’t really want to heat their coop.:hmm The pullets are not close to laying yet. All have small combs.
