I have a spayed female that I've had since she was a couple weeks old. She'll be two in June. I have 4 dogs and 5 cats at home here where she lives. She has her own room (my dining room) and full run of the front and back yards along with barn trips for grazing and hanging out. She has a potty box but has never needs it as she can hold it quite well and prefers to go outside to potty. She grunts by the door or rings a bell. She's been a snarky personality since she was little and has grown into 50lbs and seems to have stopped growing. The problem is she can be quite sweet but is also unpredictable. I've tried to work with her on all behaviors like nail trims/baths/being picked up/etc. and for the most part she can be ok but she can also turn on a dime and try and go after you and try and bite. She's never bit anyone but has to be watched very closely every minute as she has chased and tried to grab my dogs. They are little and terrified of her because she has bumped them before several times. She's fine with my cats for some reason although recently tried to grab one of them as well. I'm at my wits end thinking I either don't know enough of how to deal with pigs/her or she needs to be in a different homing situation. It's very stressful having to watch all the time keeping them all separated. She gets out-time extensively, has toys, blankets (I even regularly heat towels for her), likes to root towels inside and does all she likes outside. She seems happy but yet not....or something?? I haven't figured her out yet. She seems very moody and can be a real PILL! She's bitchy quite a lot of the time. I've raised her as a house pig (no freezing outside) having the luxury of a warm area because she was tiny and young over her first full year but regularly hangs out at a neighborhood barn pasture in warmer times. If there for long enough in a day, seems eager to come back home to her bed and only has slept at the barn overnight a couple time as yet. I am getting stressed out trying to keep her happy and still having her try and take a lunge at me after I've just rubbed her belly just the way she likes it. I've only been able to trim a toenail or two at a time because how irritated she gets and escalates in growly behavior striking out and it just doesn't pay to do more. She needs an EXPERT PIGGER and has potential but I'm about tapped out. There are some that would take her because they have a vision of how they think pigs are, but they don't know how much work they can be. They are NOT dogs and people think they are. I could never give her to anyone that wouldn't be able to handle her so feel a bit trapped and not sure what is the right thing to do for her.
