Pesticides and herbicides

My flock will be free-ranging soon on our 7 acres. We don't use pesticides, but we do use roundup to kill the grass on the outside fenceline for the horses (to keep them from going through the fence for it - even with the electric fence). Given the fact that everyplace else looks like an Amazon jungle, I would imagine the hens would just ignore the
"dead zone"?

I don't think they would be attracted to eat anything there, since it's a dead area. It's possible they might scratch over there, but I doubt it. It probably doesn't taste the best over there. I'm guessing the bugs, worms and chickens will tend to focus on other parts of the property.
