This morning I had pheasant roosters by my hens..... Can pheasants and chickens breed? I have my girls free ranging. I want my girls just as layers, but than I was admiring how georgous the pheasant roos were..... Can they cross? If so, does anyone have photos?

    Thanks!!!

I love your quote- so true!

The difference between pets and pests is only on which side of the fence they're standing... keep your animals in your own property

As far as I know, most Galliformes (pheasants, chickens, turkeys, quail, etc.) can interbreed, but the offspring are mostly sterile, like mules.
Actually I think I read somewere that chickens were a species of pheasant... I don't know, I just noticed the the link on the first responce so I guess I didn't need to post anyway [IMG]
