    Hello everyone,

I am Jeremiah and a proud new father of ten baby chicks. My two sons, 7&5,and I went last Saturday and picked up 11 baby chicks. Four about week and a half old and the rest three and a half weeks. So far the whole family is in love. The boys and I made a brooder the day we picked them up but moved them inside the following day because we thought it was too cold for them. we are not sure of the sex yet and had the opportunity to pick from a brooder that was guaranteed 90% hen but decided to take our luck with a different bunch who's brooder was actually closer to the ground so my boys could choose and pick out themselves. We have recently moved to about an acre of land and want to homestead it as much as possible. We plan to get rabbits, sheep, maybe a couple ducks and start a garden this spring. we have an old run down guest house in the back we want to convert into barn/coop. I have not only fallen in love with our chicks but also this forum as i have been lurking and consuming all the incredible information and photos.

I am excited to be here and thank all of you in advance for your incredible role you will play in our chicks lives.

Sounds like you have a great place. I'm jealous..I am in the city, and wish I could have the animals you are going to have. I am glad to have my chickens.

Welcome to BYC. We live in the city and have a 1/4 acre of land, but we make what we can out of it! Wish I had the room for more than just chickens and ducks though. One day... :D
