Our fun family has owned chickens almost a year now. Started with 17 from a hatchery and lost quite a few. Learned the hard way how to deal with hawks and raccoons. Now down to 6. [IMG] Luckily it's a new season and we have more chicks on the way

Hello from Kansas, MeyersFamFarm, and :welcome! Great to have you aboard! Yep, predators are a constant companion to most chicken folks. Toss in coyotes with the two you mentioned and they are the big 3 for me. Hardware cloth, a dog with a hatred of 4-legged strangers in the yard, and eternal vigilance seem to work for me for keeping chicken off of their menu. Best wishes with your new arrivals and thanks for joining BYC! :)
