This is Jessiah Bartlet, a 9 day old New Hampshire Red. She is one of 3 chicks who received Butt washings under a warm trickle of water for “dingleberry” (never fully pasted) removal from days 3-6 of life, she was looking great on days 7 and 8. Even on those days in which I took her in for a small crud of poop stuck to her down, she was still downy and fluffy in the back. She is eating, drinking, and running around normally. Here are photos of what I encountered when I picked her up for a trip out to the run tonight. She just fluffy, her down appears to be matted down and there is liquid (it may just be fresh poop remnant) on her vent. While the photos appear dark there is certainly no dried clumps of poop on her. They are eating medicated chick starter, have access to chick grit also, and have had a half of a hard boiled egg yolk a few times (split 6 ways). Thank you!
