Supposed to be a Wheaten Marans cockerel, feathered shanks, sorry for the terrible quality of the pics but this guy is spoiled! He just wants to lay around on my daughter and be held. Pretty cute bird! I am guessing 4 weeks old or so.

anyone know if this looks like a wheaten marans... ? I have looked a t a lot of young cockerel pictures of wheatebns... looks similar. Looks a tad bit darker for the age he is supposed to be than some I have seen though.

Quote:Maybe he just hasn't grown in his tail feathers in yet. And he looks about 4 weeks, not a week old. [IMG]
Oh, sorry, didn't realize you had changed the age. [IMG]

His tail feathers are growing in, not sure why they are later than the rest.

Quote:It's very very common in cockerels. For some reason, in a lot of breeds cockerels grow their tails much slower than the females. He'll get there, he's just putting his energy into being manly first.

I'd say he's a hatchery quality Wheaten. Congrats on getting such a cuddler! What a cutie!

I am thinking Speckled Sussex on this one. Handsome roosters [IMG] .

Could be a Wheaten though. [IMG]
