I have two Rhode Island Red chicks that are a little over 4 months old. They are really picking at their feathers tonight? There is nothing on their skin or feathers that i I could see. Anyone know what might be causing them to do this? Also I noticed once has a broken tip on her beak....what causes that?

What are they eating? Protein deficiency could cause feather loss, and insufficient calcium could weaken the beak.
Use a nail file to clean up the beak so it won't catch or tear on anything.

The rest of the chick starter along with food my year old ones eat. They little ones think they need to eat everything but their food. What can I give them to get more calcium or protein? I will file down the beak when I get home tonight. It's just the very top of the beak that chipped/broke off
