Picking up new chicks tonight!

Officially ready to start our chick family! I have a 2 year old and a 4 year old. The Store we are going to have ISA Brown and black sex link. Any opinions on breeds? Looking for docile chickens, good egg layers and ones that will be able to tolerate the cold!

ISA browns are essentially red sex links... both the black and red sex links lay about the same per year and in my personal opinion are pretty cold hearty and docile. Maybe get 3 of each and have a mixed flock? We have both along with many others and I love them both! Or, decide based on what you find to be the more attractive bird? Enjoy!
