    Hatched Sunday by a Buff Orpington, a bb red Phoenix

    3 Phoenix, 3 Phoenix x self blue OEGB (the black ones)

    their real mommies, who are broody now, and are sharing a nest [​IMG]

    their daddy, who I can never really get a good pic of because he is so scared of me

    and introducing Ruby, who has found her way to my home, she's cute but does her own thing

    First, Ruby is adorable!

    Second, your chick pics are also adorable.

    Third, your broody mommas are just adorable.

    Thanks so much for posting - although I know how those duplicate posts happen, it sure is frustrating, ain't it?? Glad the mods got it straightened out~!

    Thanks, yes, I feel great about the first chicks ever hatched here. I love my little backyard flock!


    I have no idea how I posted this 4 times!!! lol how embarassing.

    It's cute how the two broodies are nestmates. And look at the face on Ruby! I love those eyes and ears!

    Thanks crawfodmama and theoldchick. I actually think the OEGB hen (Dove is what we call her) is a little more serious about brooding than the phoenix hen. The OEGB is only 7 or 8 months old, but she will sit on the eggs while the phoenix will get up when I throw in BOSS or cracked corn.

    Dove was actually beating up a Buff Orp hen this morning, I think it got too close to her nest [​IMG], which by the way has to be on the ground, she won't have it any other way. [​IMG]
